Deborah joined East Doncaster Baptist as Senior Pastor in August 2021. Deborah says, “I relish the adventure of discipleship, following Jesus, our lord and companion on the way. It’s amazing that, through Jesus, God has made us God’s friends, giving us the ministry of reconciliation. It’s wonderful that, despite our many failings, the Spirit still works through the churches. I look forward to discovering how God will call us, the congregation at East Doncaster, to live as God’s people on Wurundjeri Land, walking humbly, doing justice, loving mercy, living towards the world of God’s promise.”

Before entering pastoral ministry, Deborah worked as a veterinarian, in humanitarian and community development in conflict affected places, and in organisational leadership roles in Australia and internationally. Alongside her work with East Doncaster, Deborah lectures in New Testament at Stirling Theological College and is an Honorary Research Associate with Whitley College. She is blessed with two nephews, two nieces and three god-children, and enjoys bush-walking, spending time with friends, and conversations about God, life and justice.
